Ko Kred (Kred Island)
Ko Kred is a tiny island in Chao Phraya River. This community has existed since the late Ayuthaya period. There are many beautiful ancient temples around the island which were constructed during this period.
Cruise around the island to see the peaceful life of people along Chao Phraya River and stop for traditional Mon food at a river bank restaurant.
We can arrange any combination of the following tours by boat or road:
Wat Poramai Yikawas or Wat Mon
This temple,
located on Kred Island is built in Mon style. King Chulalongkorn (King
Rama V) visited this temple and renovated the ordination hall and built
a pagoda also in Mon style.
Also on
Kred live a community of craftsmen famous for their distinctive style of
pottery which dates back many centuries. Ko Kred pots are known for their
fine, red black glazed surface and intricate design. These people are the
descendants of the Mon people, and they have managed to retain the skills
of their forefathers.
Earthenware Products
Walk around
the island and you can still see villagers using their hand to make
earthenware products for daily use such as garden pots and jars. The
unique styles are retained from many years ago.
Joe Louis Theater
The Joe Louis
Theater is the only one in Thailand that still performs a wonderful and
unique kind of puppet play called "Hun Lakhon Lek".
The Joe Louis puppet play is performed in a special way in which three manipulators control one puppet in order to give very lively movements.
In this program,
you will be able to witness the entire process of making Thai traditional
masks before the performance.
